Synchronic narrative, 2-channel, variable dimensions, HD, 16:9, Color, sound, Loop 11’24. Actors: Christoph Luser, Daniela Schulz, Oliver Mallison.

The two scenes shown in parallel are set in the Salon Botticelli, a hair salon. In both versions, a customer is getting an Italian-style wet shave: once by a slim, red-haired female hairdresser, and in the second projection by a man, likewise redheaded, whose face is hard to read. While one scene is permeated by a simmering erotic tension and physical familiarity that becomes more palpable with every touch, the other conveys a potential physical danger that flares up each time the blade is sharpened or placed against the skin.

The dialogue is taken from the film La mari de la coiffeuse (The Hairdresser’s Wife) (1990) by Patrice Leconte.
